Brilton Quick
1949 - 2020
One beautiful day in Hamlet, NC Brilton Bristow Quick was born on July 9, 1949 to the late Lorenzo Bristow, Sr, and the late Rachel Sweeney Bristow. She was the first born of seven children.
Brilton was educated in the Richmond County Schools. She attended Ashley Chapel Elementary and then Monroe Avenue High School where she graduated in 1968.
Brilton accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church of Hamlet, NC. During her lifetime of membership at Wayman Chapel she held many offices and enjoyed each one. Brilton was Chairman of Deaconess Board, Choir President for Mass and Senior Choirs, Assistant Church Clerk, Stewardess Board, Culinary Board, President of Women’s Fellowship, District Level of Rockingham Executive Board, Sermonette Speaker, President of the Parent Board, and decoration for the church. Her true love was singing on the choirs.
On July 6, 1974 Brilton married the love of her life Lee Otis Quick.
After High School, Brilton worked for many years as a seamstress at various sewing centers in Richmond County. When the textile Industry shut down in Richmond County, Brilton returned to school at Richmond Community College and graduated in 1997 with a degree in Administrative Office Technology. Brilton went to work at Sandhills Mental Health Center/ Daymark Recovery Services as Medical Records Specialist. She retired from Daymark in 2015.
After retirement Brilton and Lee enjoyed their time together and she enjoyed her hobbies of shopping, sewing, bowling, trips to the beach and more shopping. She was also available to give advice to all of her family and friends.
Brilton leaves to cherish her memory, husband, Lee Otis of the home, Daughter, Audrey Owens, Charlotte, Son, Ryan J Quick, Raleigh, one grandson, Jayson Owens, Charlotte ,3 brothers, Robert Bristow (Mamie ) Rockingham; Lawrence Bristow (Kathy) Hamlet; John Bristow, Fayetteville ; one sister Lisa Bristow Allen (James) Hamlet, 1 Sister in Law, Shirley Bristow, 4 Brothers-in Law, Felton Smith (Carolyn) Chesapeake, VA; Carl Brand, (Brenda) High Point, NC; Bernard Smith, Lewisville, Texas; Leon Joseph (Tracy) Bennettsville, SC; many nieces and nephews, one special cousin Ada Dockery, one special friend, Bea Ellison, numerous cousins. 2 brothers preceded her in death, McLenzy Bristow and Lorenzo Bristow.
On December 30, 2020 she went to a better place where she will feel no more pain or discomfort. She will continue with her love of the beach and her family. The family appreciates your cards, communications, gifts, and prayers during this loss of Brilton.
